This was a wonderful trip into the Fakahatchee Strand, home of the Ghost Orchid.  Ranger Greg Topin escorted US Senator Bob Graham, my husband  Herman and me into this slough.  The water was at times up to our hips.  The Senator is a champion of the Everglades and was very interested in the many species of native orchids that grow there.  This trip resulted in one of my paintings of this slough hanging in Senator Graham's Washington, DC office.
